Nearly Half Of People Admit To Wearing Underwear For TWO Days Or More!

This may come as a shock, but a recent study has revealed that nearly half of people have admitted to wearing their underwear for more than two days. Me, personally, finds that a little hard to understand.

Underwear brand Tommy John surveyed 2,000 US men and women and shockingly found from the study that 45 per cent of people confessed to re-wearing their underwear. Still.. can’t quite understand it.

I mean, it would be a lot easier to wear underwear for more than one day, it would cut down on washing and you wouldn’t always have to remember to ‘change’ BUT… it’s not the most hygienic thing to wear undies longer than you should, is it?

Things like T-shirts can be re-worn comfortably with a spray of deodorant and jeans can go unwashed for ages…

It’s safe to say and pretty obvious that underwear as close contact with our intimate areas and the sheer thought of wearing the same thing again is actually a horrid thought.

Shockingly, 13 per cent of people said they had worn the same pair for a week or more… JUST NO!

Apparently, men are 2.5 times more likely to wear the same pair of underwear for more than a week, but that’s kind of… not AS shocking..

The study found that 46 per cent of people wore underwear that were more than a year old and 38 per cent said they had no idea how old their underpants are.

Apparently, your underwear should be thrown out after six months to a year, as they accumulate microorganisms and fungi that can lead to yeast infections and more. Yikes.

Tommy John has offered some great tips on washing your underwear:

– To minimise the amount of bacteria your underwear gathers after a wash, tumble dry your underwear on low heat for 30 minutes.

– Don’t mix your underwear in the same load with your significant other or children if they’re sick. It will only increase bacteria.

– DO NOT WASH contaminated underwear with other pairs and clothing.

– Wash your underwear separately from clothing containing other bodily fluids.
