Halloween is just around the corner, and what better way is there to get into the spooky spirit by watching the best horror movies?

This time of the year is the best for horror movies, and streaming app Netflix never fails to provide us with the Halloween goods. But this year, they released a movie so frightening that some viewers have gone to the lengths to flush their own phones down the toilet after watching.

Wounds was released on 18th October as a Netflix Original and the thriller stars Dakota Johnson and Armie Hammer.

Hammer plays the role of Will, a New Orleans bartender whose entire world is turned upside down when he retrieves a lost phone at his bar. The device quickly begins to have an effect on him after it begins to give him disturbing visions and thoughts.

These visions and thoughts turn him against his girlfriend Carrie, who is played by Johnson, and bar regular Alicia, played by Zazie Beetz.

His rage begins to spiral out of control and he soon becomes unable to differentiate between his dark hallucinations and reality. He is eventually drawn towards a terrifying dark portal reminiscent of the Upside Down in Stranger Things.

Wounds is directed by Babak Anvarie, who is known for horror hits such as Under The Shadow.

Despite only being out for a few days, the movie has proved to be a big success with Netflix streamers, and people haven’t wasted time in sharing their opinions online.

“Swear to God my phone is OFF LIMITS after seeing Wounds. Reckon it’s safe if I turn on airplane mode?” one Twitter user wrote, alongside a thinking emoji.

“The film on Netflix called Wounds is making me itch sooo much,” another user added.

But one user took things the extra mile by writing: “Just watched Wounds on Netflix and guess I’m gonna have to flush my phone now. No demons for me thanks.”

So it is unknown as to whether viewers have actually flushed their phones down the toilet, but Wounds has certainly put the idea in people’s heads!

Halloween is only a week away and Netflix is most certainly the place to be until then.
