Grandma And Stranger Spend 4th Thanksgiving Together After Wrong Number Text

It was four years ago today that an accidental text was sent out by a grandma in Arizona who thought she was texting her grandson to come over and celebrate. Instead, she had sent the message to another Arizona native, 17-year-old Jamal Hinton.

Rather than ignoring the text, as one would normally do, Jamal decided to reply, asking Wanda Dench if he could still come over, even though he knew the text was never meant for him.

Wanda was delighted and replied: “Of course you can. That’s what grandmas do… feed everyone.”

And from the simple exchange, a new tradition was born.

For the past three years, the two friends met up every Thanksgiving and in order to commemorate their newfound friendship, they took a snapshot of themselves each year which Jamal shared in an adorable post on Twitter. Obviously it went down a treat amongst social media users who couldn’t help but gush over the pair, and soon enough the tweet went viral.

And things just keep on getting better as the duo plan to meet up again for the fourth year running, but this time, Jamal has invited Wendy and her husband down to his girlfriend’s place so he can introduce her to his partner.

He claimed that he is “more excited this year than any other.” And Wendy shared his happiness, stating that she is “looking forward to meeting all the family.”

If this isn’t what Thanksgiving is about, then I don’t know what is!
