Old Ellen DeGeneres Tweet About Making Employee Cry Has Resurfaced

Following weeks and weeks of negative media attention, things just keep getting worse for Ellen DeGeneres.

Ellen’s been under fire after allegations of racism and intimidation on her talk show set, while her former security guard called her ‘demeaning’ to work for.

Other people online have been sharing horrific rumors about her, and in a  recent BuzzFeed News article, several former staffers accused Ellen’s producers of sexual harassment and misconduct in the workplace.

Now a tweet that Ellen posted back in 2009 is adding more fuel to the fire.

The tweet simply reads:

I made one of my employees cry like a baby on today’s show. Honestly, it felt good.

And understandably people have been slamming Ellen for the seemingly cruel tweet.

One person wrote:

We caught you in broad daylight.

Another said:

Did u push them down the stairs ? hold a g*n to their head ? how did u do it.

However, don’t believe everything you see on the Internet. While the tweet is of course genuine, it is not about abuse or bullying.

Instead the tweet is in reference to a segment on the show where Ellen surprised her longtime staffer, Jeannie Klisiewicz, with a cruise.

So there you have it folks.
