Joaquin Phoenix Just Named His First Son ‘River’

Joaquin Phoenix has melted the hearts of the world by naming his first son, River.

In case, for whatever reason, you didn’t know, Joaquin had an older brother called River, who was an actor himself.

River starred in some huge films such as Stand By Me, My Own Private Idaho, and Running On Empty.

But just as his career was really taking off, River tragically overdosed and died at the age of just 23.

Now, almost thirty years on from River’s tragic death, his brother, Joaquin has welcomed his first baby into the world with his wife, Rooney Mara, and they’ve named the baby boy River.

Director Viktor Kossakovsky spilled the news about the baby and his name at the Zurich Film Festival.

He said:

He just got a baby, by the way, his name was… a beautiful son called River, so he cannot promote [the film] right now.

Joaquin himself has not made an official statement about the baby boy – but fans are already swooning for the youngster.

One fan wrote online:

Joaquin Phoenix and Rooney Mara named their baby River. I’M DROWNING IN MY OWN TEARS.

Another said:

“When he was 17, my brother wrote this lyric: he said ‘run to the rescue with love and peace will follow.’ Thank you.”

Joaquin phoenix and Rooney Mara welcomed a baby boy AND named him River… my heart is SO happy right now!!!

Congratulations to the happy couple.
