Facebook Confirms Why Millions of Users Were Logged Out Yesterday

Yesterday evening, millions of folk across the world found that they had been logged out of Facebook.

I was one of them. I clicked onto the app before receiving a message which told me my ‘session had expired’ and that I would have to log back in to continue. So I did.

What I didn’t know was that the exact same thing had happened to millions of people all over the world.

People were spectating the cause of the global log out. Everything from political conspiracies to ‘hacking’ claims.

But finally Facebook has confirmed the reason why.

<blockquote class=”twitter-tweet”><p lang=”en” dir=”ltr”>So Facebook logged me out and I started blaming my baby daddy thinking he was trying to log in my account <a href=”https://t.co/EqMwgSv88N”>pic.twitter.com/EqMwgSv88N</a></p>&mdash; marianna (@marianuhhxo) <a href=”https://twitter.com/marianuhhxo/status/1352841072666267648?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw”>January 23, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async src=”https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js” charset=”utf-8″></script>

It’s all down to configuration change.

Facebook App tweeted:

So Facebook, heard it was a “configuration change”. Thanks to the engineers who fixed the issue and patiently tried to explain the cause to us to no avail.

So there you have it folks!
