Kansas City Chiefs defensive tackle, Derrick Nnadi, picked a very humble way to celebrate his massive Super Bowl win on Sunday.
What did he do? He paid the adoption fees for all dogs stuck in one adoption center.
The Super Bowl final was played between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Amazingly, the Kansas City Chiefs turned the game round and eventually won 31-20 in an incredible victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
Now, thanks to Nnadi, every single dog at the KC Pet Project is free to adopt, after he paid the fees for over 100 of them.
He explained to CNN:
All my life I always wanted a dog, Growing up I didn’t have a pet, my parents didn’t really allow pets.
However it wasn’t to be… Until Nnadi was in his senior year at college and he got ‘Rocky’.
When I first got him, he was very timid. It made me think of how other animals, whether they’re owned or in a shelter, are feeling scared and alone.
So he got involved with adoption centers and began paying for one dog’s adoption fees every time the Chiefs won a game. When they got into the Super Bowl he decided to pay for every dog.
I’ve never been a champion before. All the years of me playing football, that first time honestly feels like the best day of my life.
Thanks to his incredible support, more than 100 available dogs in our care will have their adoption fees sponsored starting today.
What a hero!
