This is the story of 15-year-old, Xiaofeng, who had an incredibly rare condition which meant that her face resembled that of a 60-year-old.
The disease, known as Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria syndrome, was inherited from her mother.
Fortunately the syndrome has reportedly only affected her skin and not her organs however it causes the skin to age significantly quicker than usual.
Even when Xiaofeng was a baby her skin was loosening. By the age of six, she had aged dramatically.
Xiaofeng wrote a letter to Chinese philanthropist, Guo Ming, explaining that she looked like a ‘grandmother’. Thanks to him, her condition became famous and many people wanted to help.
And now they have – after she was invited to Shenyang Sunline Plastic Surgery Hospital for life changing surgery.
The hospital explained:
Xiaofeng has the same young heart, dreams, beauty and life as ordinary girls, but her misfortune has caused her to suffer from rare premature ageing.
Take a look at the results:
The operation cost a staggering 500,000 RMB ($72,400) however amazingly the hospital got rid of 70 per cent of the cost for the operation.
Even better than that? The rest of the bill was paid for by kind strangers who donated to Guo Ming.
Xiaofeng is delighted with the surgery and so are her parents who both broke down in tears when her new face was unveiled.
We wish Xiofeng the best of luck for the rest of her life.
