Members of the Spanish military, who have been helping in the fight against Coronavirus, found numerous elderly people abandoned in care homes – some of whom were found dead in their beds.
Spanish prosecutors say that an investigation is now underway.
Spain is one of the world’s hardest hit countries after the Coronavirus outbreak – and today news broke that it had overtook China’s death toll.
The military was recently brought in to help efforts to slow down the rate in which the virus is spreading. They’re also helping to disinfect care homes.
A total of 2,696 people have now died in Spain and there are 39,637 confirmed cases.

The death toll is so high in Spain that they are having to turn ice rinks into temporary morgues in the country’s capital, Madrid.
Spanish Defence Minister Margarita Robles told the private TV channel Telecinco:
The army, during certain visits, found some older people completely abandoned, sometimes even dead in their beds.
