A month long battle with COVID-19 has seen nurse Mike Schultz lose 50lb of muscle after the virus ravaged his body.
The 43-year-old nurse, who hails from San Francisco, fell ill with the deadly virus a week after attending an event in Miami, from which 40 people contracted the disease and three sadly died.
On 16th March, Mike was rushed to hospital as his fever hit 103 and his lungs began to fill with fluid so he could barely breathe. He was so weak when he woke up he couldn’t even lift his cell phone and his hands shook while typing.
Mike is now down to 140lbs following his six week long trauma, which saw him rushed to hospital in Boston just days after visiting his boyfriend.
Despite his ordeal, Mike has managed to retain a great sense of humour about everything, telling Buzzfeed “I’ll get back to where I was in healthier ways this time….maybe even do cardio.” and also revealed that his first meal after recovery was two cheeseburgers, small fries and a strawberry shake from McDonalds.
An excellent choice, sir.
