Italian Politician Threatens People With Flamethrowers For Breaking Quarantine

Given that Italy has recorded more Coronavirus related deaths than anywhere else in the world, even China, it is perhaps not surprising that some officials are taking extreme measures to ensure the public remain indoors during the nationwide lockdown.

One politician, however, MAY have taken things a tad too far with his latest threat to any citizens thinking of flouting the lockdown laws.

In a recent address to local residents, Campania region President Vincenzo De Luca has taken the extraordinary step of threatening people with flamethrower wielding police.

No, you have read that correctly. POLICE…WITH…FLAMETHROWERS.

In his speech, De Luca said, “I’m getting news that some would like to throw graduation parties. We will send over the police. With flamethrowers.”

Well, that’s certainly one way of ensuring people decide against nipping out any time soon.

In fact, it seems as though many officials in Italy have lost their last ounce of patience with certain sections of the population, with several mayors and politicians using their positions to completely lose their s**t towards the general public.

Given the way the pandemic has brought the world to it’s knees in a matter of weeks, who knows what the next escalation will be after the dramatic developments of the last seven days or so.

But maybe let’s not bring out the flamethrowers just yet? Cheers.
