In some more of your classic 2020 news, Iran have issued an arrest warrant for the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
And they’ve even asked Interpol to help.
The arrest warrant has been given out to Donald Trump for his role in the assassination of a leading military commander earlier this year.
Tehran prosecutor, Ali Alqasimehr said the international warrant included Trump and more than 30 others allegedly involved in the 3 January drone strike that killed General Qassem Soleimani.
While nobody else was identified as being wanted for arrest, Alqasimehr did add that Iran had requested a ‘red notice’ be put out for Trump and the others, the highest-level notice issued by Interpol.
He concluded that Iran would pursue his prosecution even after his presidency ends.
Soleimani was the commander of Iran’s clandestine overseas paramilitary force, the official Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA).
When he was assassinated by the US – seemingly out of nowhere – at the beginning of this year, fears of a nuclear war were paramount.
Interpol have not yet responded to the request.
As if 2020 could not get any crazier huh?!
