Heartbreaking details have emerged around the death of figure skater, Ekaterina Alexandrovskaya aged just 20.
The Olympic skater, who was born in Russia but competed for Australia at the 2018 Olympics, died in Moscow.
International Skating Union President, Jan Dijkema, broke the news of her death, writing:
The ISU is shocked by the news of Ekaterina’s death. She was a talented skater and the figure skating community will miss her. We offer our deepest condolences to her family, friends and teammates and we regret this tragic loss.
Her partner at the Olympics, Harley Windsor, was devastated to learn of her death.
He posted a tribute to Instagram, writing:
Words cannot describe how I feel right now, I am devastated and deeply hurt by Katia’s sudden and sad death. What we achieve as a team is something that I can never forget and that I will always keep close to my heart. This news is something you can never prepare for. Rest in peace Katia.
Alexandrovskaya fell to her death from a window in Moscow, and while the reason for her death remains unknown, many are speculating it was a suicide.
Before falling to her death, she left a note behind which simply said: Lyublyu (I love).
Her coach has also spoken out saying that she suffered from depression.
