Former US president, Barack Obama, has claimed that women are “indisputably better” as leaders than men during talking on leadership in Singapore.
Obama, who has spoken out on being a feminist on numerous occasions, says he believes that there would be an improvement in living standards if every leader in the world was a woman.
“Now women, I just want you to know, you are not perfect, but what I can say pretty indisputably is that you are better than us [men],” he said at the private event.
“I’m absolutely confident that for two years if every nation on earth was run by women, you would see a significant improvement across the board on just about everything… living standards and outcomes.”
The former president then went on to claim that many of the world’s problems are caused by old people, in particular, old men.
“If you look at the world and look at the problems it’s usually old people, usually old men, not getting out of the way.”
He continued: “It is important for political leaders to try and remind themselves that you are there to do a job, but you are not there for life, you are not there to prop up your own sense of self-importance on your own power.”
During his time in the White House, Obama was a huge advocate for the feminist movement and consistently pushed the importance of gender equality.
Since exiting the White House two years ago, the ex-president along with the former first lady, Michelle Obama, have even set up a foundation that mentors young leaders across the world.
