‘You’ Series 2 On Netflix: Release Date, Cast, Trailer, Plot

Last year, Netflix thriller You took the internet by storm. The show really had it all – hipsters, shots of New York City, Gossip Girl actors, and a healthy dose of murder and mayhem. In fact, almost as soon as the show was over, we were hungry for more.

What happened in You season one?

The story was set around creepy bookshop worker Joe, and his ever-increasing obsession with writing student and millennial stereotype Beck. He would stop at absolutely nothing to get his hands on the prize – and soon there was a slew of corpses in his wake.

You was actually based on a book by Caroline Kepnes – and the fact there was a second book in the series had many viewers hopeful for more. And thankfully, Netflix delivered, promising a season two was in the works. Now the release date has been officially announced, here’s everything else you need to know.

What happens in You season 2?

Series two follows Joe cross-country, from New York to Los Angeles. Eager to get away from all the drama of season one, Joe decides a full coastal migration is in order. If you’re too impatient to wait, the series is set to follow Hidden Bodies closely, so you can always read ahead.

Director Sara Gamble has made some pretty exciting revelations about the season, too. “At least one scene comes to mind that’s gorier and scarier than anything we had in season one.”

And, of course, since Beck is no more, Jow needs a brand new victim (or, as he sees it, love interest) – which the series will ultimately see him falling into a terrifying obsession with.

Who is in You season 2?

She’s set to be played by Victoria Pedretti. Pedretti is probably best known for her horrifying turn in The Haunting of Hill House. Other new cast members include Melanie Field and Magda Apanowicz.

Of course, the show wouldn’t be complete without some of our old favorites. Alongside Joe (of course), we’ll also be checking in with his mysterious ex Candas, plus creepy (yet maligned) therapist Doctor Nicky.

On the downside, it doesn’t seem as though fan favorites from season one like Shay Mitchell, Hari Neff, or Elizabeth Lail are associated with the project.

When does You season 2 come out?

According to a (now deleted) Tweet from the Netflix account, there are a whole host of confirmed release dates. Based on the internet’s calculations, this means You is set to come out on December 30th. This lines up with the first season, which premiered on December 26th of 2018.

Where can I watch the You season 2 trailer?

We’re still waiting on the drop of the You season two trailer – but we can probably expect it fairly soon. The season one trailer dropped at the start of December – so we have our fingers crossed for the same second time around.

We can hardly wait!
