‘The Mandalorian’ Is Being Hailed ‘The Best Thing On TV’

The Mandalorian is being called the best thing on TV since it’s premiere this week.

The series, which only wrapped filming in February 2019, is set around five years on from the events of Return of the Jedi, but before the start of The Force Awakens.

According to an Instagram post from director Jon Favreau at the time, it followed a “lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy.”

“After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe,” the post read. “The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic”.

Footage of the series was shown during the Star Wars Celebration panel. Some months later a trailer resembling the footage was released during Disney’s D23 event.

Disney+ is set to launch in the UK in the first half of 2020 – a few months after the US. So unless you find some ropey links, UK fans may have to wait.

Disney already has an active subscription service in the UK, called DisneyLife. A £4.99 subscription grants access to a catalogue of 450+ Disney movies (including all the original versions of The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, The Jungle Book and so on).
