Netflix’s New True Crime ‘Killer Inside’ Is The Darkest Yet

Do you have the January blues? Looking to kick it with a brand new true crime series?

We’ve only just gotten over the second season of You and that was all make-believe. Killer Inside is based on a real story…

The three-part series covers the life of former NFL star, Aaron Hernandez who between the years of 2007 and 2013, was in court for six shootings, in which three people tragically died.

Releasing a trailer online this morning, Netflix promised to “go beyond the headlines” revealing how the footballer “went from in-demand athlete to wanted man”.

And if the trailer is anything to go by, fans of the genre will not be let down.

The New England Patriots star signed a five-year $40 million (£30.4 million) deal with the club in 2010, but just three years in he was convicted for the murder of his future brother-in-law, Odin Lloyd as well as the double murder of two Boston men in 2012.

He was sentenced to life in prison without the chance of parole. In 2017, the footballer went on to commit suicide in his cell in Massachusetts.

Killer Inside, which will air on January 15th, explores the life of Hernandez – from his troubling and often abusive upbringing, to his struggles with violence and drugs.

The documentary is also set to feature exclusive courtroom footage as well as Hernandez’s personal phone calls from prison.

There’ll also be a series of interviews from those close to the athlete, giving viewers a glimpse into his life both in and outside the courtroom.

One thing’s for sure, this is sure to be a success with those looking for a binge-watch-worthy show to get them through the rest of the month.

Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez will air on Netflix on January 15th.
