Sir Reginald’s dysfunctional academy will be returning to screens once again as Netflix confirms Season 2 of the quirky superhero show is officially in the works.
Based on the comic books by Gerard Way, the lead singer, and co-founder of the rock band, My Chemical Romance, the show hit the streaming platform earlier this year and chronicled the antics of a group of estranged siblings who all don superpowers. After the death of their foster father, they then have to join forces to fight off an impending apocalypse.
Since the series dropped, it left fans reeling for more, especially after that explosive season finale.
Back in April, Netflix confirmed the show had been renewed for a second season and fans were suitably thrilled, to say the least.
But now, several months on, patience appears to be running thin and fans are desperate to get a much-needed update on the progress of the next season.
And our prayers have finally been answered, as Netflix shared a Hargreeves family selfie along with a very important caption.
The streaming giant confirmed season 2 will be “coming soon,” vaguely hinting at the upcoming season. But, c’mon, we’re going to need way more detail than that!
The pic does suggest, however, that filming may have wrapped up, so of course, an influx of eager-eyed fans have been carrying out their best detective work to figure out when the season will drop.
The show’s star-studded cast, including the likes of Ellen Page (Juno); singer, Mary J. Blige, and Tom Hopper (Game of Thrones) have been hard at work since the show began producing new episodes back in June.
While this week’s news confirms that we may not have much longer to wait to see the dysfunctional superhero family on our screens again, we don’t appear to be any closer to an official release date. But, given the first season’s huge success, we don’t anticipate Netflix will be hanging around for too long.
On the other hand, the production team has said it can take around eighteen months to produce a series, so fans could still be waiting until the latter half of 2020 for the second installment.
