Matthew McConaughey Cast as Two Face in the New ‘Batman’ Film

Alright, alright, alright. Matthew McConaughey is set to play Two Face in the latest Batman film.

Yep, the veteran actor is rumored to have been cast in the upcoming The Batman, which is set for a 2021 release.

Set in the DC Extended Universe, it will reportedly be a stand-alone film, rather than an origin story, though no specific details have been released.

Rumor has it that the film will be adapting the lauded miniseries, “The Long Halloween” by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale, which saw a young Batman, on the hunt for a serial killer who murdered his victims on holidays throughout the year. It remains a fan favorite.

McConaughey is likely to play the District Attorney of Gotham turned villain in the new flick. The role was last conquered by Aaron Eckhart in Christopher Nolan’s seminal The Dark Knight.

Former broody Twilight star Robert Pattinson is set to play the Dark Knight alongside Zoe Kravitz, who will be playing Catwoman.

“I mean it’s an interesting direction,” Pattinson said.

“It’s something from the comics which hasn’t been really explored yet. You know, it’s kind of crazy shoes to film. I mean, it’s interesting what different directions you can take with it. When somebody plays a specific character, it’s actually quite a lot of leeway. When you look at the different tones of all these movies and the TV shows, I mean you can do quite a lot with it.”

Kravitz, meanwhile, had her own connection to the Batman films. In the 2015 interview with Nylon, Kravitz said, “In the last Batman movie [The Dark Knight Rises], they told me that I couldn’t get an audition for a small role they were casting because they weren’t ‘going urban’. It was like, ‘What does that have to do with anything?’ I have to play the role like, ‘Yo, what’s up, Batman? What’s going on wit chu?'”

Things have changed since, clearly. We’re looking forward to this one!
