They’ll Be There For You! Well, not quite. Maybe when it comes to daily Comedy Central reruns and Netflix deals.
But if you’re looking for brand spanking new Friends content, the following is going to probably disappoint you.
So here’s the thing: earlier this week Jennifer Aniston went on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in the States to promote her now Apple TV film. Naturally, the conversation turned to the sitcom that made Aniston a household name.
Last week, she broke the Internet by joining Instagram and making as her first post, a selfie with all her co-stars enjoying each others company at Courtney Cox’s house.
People around the world suddenly thought, ” Hang on, is THIS the confirmation of a long-desired reunion?”
According to Aniston, no. She said: “Listen, we would love for there to be something, but we don’t know what that something is. So we’re just trying really, we’re working on something. No, we don’t know. I don’t want to lead people on.”
There’s so much pressure on reunions. You can’t blame the girl!
Marta Kauffman, co-creator and writer of Friends revealed in an interview where she stands on the concept. Speaking to Rolling Stone, she said: “There are several reasons [why there won’t be a Friends reunion]. One, the show is about a time in your life when your friends are your family. It’s not that time anymore. All we’d be doing is putting those six actors back together, but the heart of the show would be gone.
“Two, I don’t know what good it does us. The show is doing just fine, people love it. [A reunion] could only disappoint. ‘The One Where Everyone’s Disappointed’.”
Yikes! Could they BE any less interested? Let’s just be thankful they made Friends to begin with. Whenever we need our fix, it’s right there. Everyday! We shouldn’t really complain guys…
