Fred, who is a resident dog at Mountfitchet Castle in Stansted, UK, isn’t your typical Labrador. He’s also a foster parent. Yes, it’s true.
The 10-year-old Labrador retriever Fred is a loyal and friendly pup. Away from his usual dog activities, he is now teaching nine ducklings how to survive.
The ducklings were found wandering aimlessly around the castle with no mother in sight so lovely Fred walked over to the ducklings and immediately took on the role of guardian.
The ducklings immediately fell in love with Fred, and now follow Fred all over the grounds.
All nine ducklings spend their day hitching a ride on the back of Fred. He will take them down to the moat for a swim, just like a mother duck would do.
Other times the ducklings and Fred are napping on the lawn in the sun.
Wherever Fred is, the ducklings are right behind. Fred has taken on his new role with great pride and is doing an amazing job.
