An amazing discovery was found recently when a sealed cardboard box at the Puntzi Lake Landfill in British Columbia, Canada, was full of nine newborn puppies and their mother.
The dog had been abandoned and the abuser had sealed them inside the box to make sure they couldn’t get out. Thankfully, a kindhearted person found the dogs and immediately took them to the vet.
When found, the mother dog was incredibly thin and malnourished.
She had given birth a week before they were found but despite her poor health, she was an incredible mom to her little puppies.
After a stay at the vets for one night the little family was then transferred to a non-profit organization called the British Columbia Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (BC SPCA).
The BCSCPA’s Quesnel and District branch in Canada looked after the family and the mother dog focused on taking care of her puppies as the staff fed her and nursed her back to health.
The mother dog was quite nervous at first, her anxiety was high because of her past experiences but eventually she relaxed.
The shelter have named the mom “Casey.” The shelter are so happy that Casey and her puppies were found by someone who wanted to save them.
The puppies will be available for adoption when they are at least two months old but for now they are getting all the care they need.
The BC SPCA is still looking for the person who abandoned Casey and her puppies.
