We all have a feeling we’ve left something behind when we go away… but for this little puppy, that was reality, on purpose.
The three-month-old Chihuahua, called Chewy was found by an airport security guard at the McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.
The scared little puppy was abandoned inside one of the airport’s restrooms.
Heartbreakingly, Chewy was abandoned, not out of spite or to be cruel to the puppy, but because the owner was running away to escape an abusive relationship.
Chewy was meant to make the flight but his owner couldn’t bring him on her flight last minute due to the cost. The owner has no choice but to leave Chewy behind with a letter, hoping a good person would find him.
The letter read:
“Hi! I’m Chewy! My owner was in an abusive relationship and couldn’t afford me to get on the flight. She didn’t want to leave me with all her heart, but she has NO other option. My ex-boyfriend kicked my dog when we were fighting, and he has a big knot on his head. He probably needs a vet. I love Chewy sooo much. Please love and take care of him.”
Due to Chewy’s head injury, he needed immediate attention.
The airport staff reached out to Connor and Millie’s Dog Rescue, a foster-based local non-profit center.
They tookChewy in and he was rushed to an emergency vet clinic.
